Building Better Contracts for Future Commercial Agreements

Introduction

For over a year, the COVID-19 pandemic has been a central concern for company leaders, with several moments of optimism quickly overshadowed by renewed outbreaks. This Contract Negotiation and Development, During and After Crisis training course addresses the current challenges of negotiating and developing contracts amid the pandemic, highlighting the need for adjustments in contract practices while underscoring the enduring essentials that remain unchanged.

The training course delves into how we must adapt our contract negotiation and development strategies in response to the ongoing public health crisis. It provides insights into navigating these new complexities while maintaining core contract principles.

Looking ahead to 2022 and beyond, the course also explores how increased experience in managing a COVID-affected environment will shape our approach to partnering with vendors, service suppliers, and contractors in the evolving ‘new normal.’

This ALARDI Africa Training will highlight:

  • What is different about negotiating contracts using virtual working methods?
  • Tools and techniques to facilitate contract drafting when the parties are remote from each other
  • How is contractual performance impacted by a pandemic?
  • A re-think on risk sharing during a public health crisis
  • New approaches to contract making, reflecting the need for greater collaboration between clients and suppliers

  • Discuss how contract making is changing to reflect the Post-COVID world
  • Identify contract objectives that they can achieve through negotiation
  • Prepare and discuss qualifications for contract drafts prepared by other parties
