Youth for Climate Action

Introduction
This connects biodiversity policymakers, changemakers, and on-the-ground experts to promote conservation and support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). With a focus on the 2030 Agenda, it offers a wide range of digital learning opportunities to strengthen nature-based sustainable development efforts.

Course Objectives
By the end of the course, you will:

• Have acquired a basic understanding of the science of climate change, including its causes and impacts
• Understand the two main pathways for climate action: adaptation and mitigation
• Be able to explain international, national, and subnational climate governance and cooperation using theory and real-life examples from Africa and the Caribbean
• Know about avenues for meaningful participation and advocacy available to civil society

Who Should Attend?
This course is designed for the next generation—children, teenagers, and especially young people across Africa and the Caribbean—to help them understand the core concepts of climate change and explore how they can take action and advocate for change from within civil society. The course supports their growth as emerging climate leaders.

Training Methodology
This course will utilize a variety of practical learning techniques to ensure maximum understanding, comprehension, and retention of the information presented. Includes stimulating presentations supporting each of the topics, together with interactive trainer-led sessions of discussion.
There will also be practical sessions where participants can practice and experience course-related activities. Practical and fun exercises, short video presentations, small group work, and feedback will be used to facilitate learning.
